According to Joseph Friedl's A History of Education in McDowell County, West Virginia, 1858-1976, this building was constructed in 1925. It served as Gary High School until 1978, when Gary and Welch High Schools were consolidated to form Mount View. Since consolidation the building has served as Gary Elementary School. This photo was taken by GHS Alumnus John Wilson in October, 2000.
